Topic- 1: Geography as a discipline- Geographical thought in the Ancient, Medieval and Modern Periods: Contributions of Verenius, Kant, Rein, Humboldt and Ritter. Richthofen and Darwin’s influence. Videl-da-la Blache, F. Ratzel etc.
Topic-2: Origin and Evolution of the Earth- Introduction to the Solar System, Motion of the Earth: Rotation, Rotation, Phenomenon of Day and Night; change of seasons; latitude and longitude; finding time Earth’s Interior: Origin of Materials and Oceanic Bases Wagner’s Continental Drift Theory, Plate Tectonics Theory of Earthquakes and Volcanoes, Folds and Faults Origin of the Earth: Nebular Hypothesis (Old Theory) and Big-Bang Theory. The evolution of continents, atmosphere and oceans.
Topic-3: Interior of the Earth and Distribution of oceans and continents- The constitution of the Earth’s interior (based on seismic evidence), the origin of continents and ocean basins. Wegener’s theory of continental drift and plate tectonics. Plate motion and interactions—volcanism and seismicity.
Topic-4: Landforms- Minerals and Rocks- Classification of rocks, rock cycle. Important mineral geomorphic processes of denudation, intrauterine and exogenous processes. Mass erosion, landslides, river works, glacier wind, sea waves etc., processes of soil formation.
Topic-5: Climate: Atmosphere: Composition and Composition. Insolation and temperature, atmospheric pressure and winds, atmospheric moisture, cyclones, classification of climates (Classification of Köppen and Thornthwaite schemes). Global climate change: causes and effects.
Topic-6:  Water (Ocean) Geomorphology of the ocean floor, submarine relief features of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. Motion of ocean water: currents, tides and waves. Marine deposits and coral reefs.
Topic -7:  Life on the Earth Environmental geography, landscape, ecosystem and perception perspectives, perspectives in man and the biosphere: interactive and dynamic relationships. Human impact on biogeochemical cycles.
Topic-8:  India: The Geographical basis of Indian State-territory; extent, shape ,location and size.
Topic-9 Physiography: Structure, a Drainage system , Physiographic divisions and its evolution.
Topic-10 Climate, Vegetation and Soil Climate: Factors controlling the climate of India Origin and mechanism of Indian monsoon; Weather of India, classification of the climate of India (Köppen, Thornthwaite, Trewartha). Soils: Types and Distribution (ICAR), Soil Problems, Conservation of Soil Vegetation- Types and Distribution; Protection.

Topic-16: Human settlements (World and India) Unstable and Fixed Settlements, Rural Settlements: Origin, Types and Patterns; Urban Settlements: Origin and Development of Towns; Functional classification of towns. problems of urbanization in the world; Urbanization in India; Urban slums and slums.
Topic -17: Geographical perspectives on selected issues and problems Environmental pollution-Land, Water, Air, Noise, Poverty, Food Security, Global Warming ; Sustainable Development.
Topic -18: General Cartography (Practicals) Elements and classification of maps, scales, map-estimates, calculation of direction, latitude, longitude and local and standard time, identification and analysis of relief forms: topographic maps and interpretation. Weather-tools and interpretation of weather maps. Digital Mapping, Remote Sensing, Visual Interpretation. Q. Is there any negative marking in KVS PGT exam?

Answer. There is no negative marking in KVS exam. There are total 7 sections for PGT and PRT and 6 sections for TGT in KVS exam. You will get 1 mark for each correct question. The total number of questions and maximum marks for TGT, PGT and PRT exam is 150.

Q. Is B.Ed necessary for KVS PGT?

Answer. No, because most of the schools have made B.Ed compulsory for teaching class 11 and 12. But in government schools, you will not get any chance to become a PGT without a bed degree.

Q. Who is eligible for PGT?

Answer. Candidates should be comfortable in teaching in English and Hindi. Individuals who have four years integrated degree course from a regional college approved by NCERT are also considered for PGT eligibility. Candidate must have passed CTET or Central Teacher Eligibility Test before PGT Recruitment

Q. Is CTET mandatory for PGTs?

Answer. Yes, CTET is mandatory for TGT and PGT teachers.

Q. Can we apply for KVS without CTET?

Answer. No. (i) B.Ed or equivalent degree from a recognized University. (ii) Passed in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) Paper-II conducted by CBSE in accordance with the guidelines framed by NCTE for the purpose.
