India vs Australia 4th Test Highlights: After opting to bat, Australia scored 255/4 in 90 overs at stumps on the first day of the ongoing fourth and final Test match between India vs India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Made it stand Usman Khawaja scored a brilliant century by playing an unbeaten inning of 104 runs in 251 balls with the help of 15 fours. The Australian opener was at his sublime best and will again open the batting with Cameron Green (49*) on the second day. Khawaja and Travis Head showed positive intent to get Australia off to a strong start. Head was eventually dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin for 32 off 44 balls, but helped his team get off to a good start. Marnus Labuschagne, at No.4, after the wicket of Hades. 3, failed to make an impact and was dismissed cheaply for three off 20 balls. After Labuschagne, Smith built a steady partnership with Khawaja but lost his wicket to Ravindra Jadeja, who managed a 135-ball 38. No. 5, Peter Handscomb looked comfortable but a delivery from Mohammed Shami dismissed him for 17 off 27 balls and the pacer also took his second wicket of the day. After Handscomb, all-rounder Cameron Green restored Australia’s stability with a fine partnership with Khawaja, in which the opener also scored a century. The match holds immense significance as far as the World Test Championship is concerned and a positive result will see India team up with Australia for the final, which is to be played at The Oval in June. A draw or even a defeat will not deter India’s chances of qualifying but a lot will depend on the outcome of the Test series between New Zealand and Sri Lanka starting on Thursday. Australia, on the other hand, would be hoping to carry forward the winning momentum and end the series on equal terms. The visiting team is currently trailing 1-2 in the four-match series.
